Independent:
I am not a member of any political party and I’m not interested in making political points. I’m only doing this because it’s the best way I can help the city I love. I’m in it to do the right thing for the kids, period.
Moderate:
I’m a moderate. That means I look to see where we agree, and work from there. We all have places we agree, and places we disagree. Let’s work from the places we agree and build a relationship based on respect and compromise.
Informed:
It should go without saying, but I will do my homework. I will be prepared for every meeting, having read the relevant documents, and have pertinent, reasonable and thoughtful questions.
Empathetic:
There may be areas where we disagree. I will try hard to understand your perspective. I may not agree with you, but I won’t belittle you or minimize your concerns. If we end up with an unresolvable disagreement, I will work my hardest to make sure that we do so with respect and trust.
